Title: Settlement barriers and urbanization threats on regional and local potential linkages
Author:
Comments: If a corridor is passing through a settlement gap, which is of less than 300 m distance, it was classified as a bottleneck due to settlement development. Due to the small distance of 300 m, it was assumed that these corridors are at risk by getting lost due to urbanisation. Settlement barriers were identified, if a least-cost-path is passing through bottlenecks smaller than 50m.
Subject: The map shows settlement barriers and urbanization threats. According to an Austrian draft guideline on evaluation of ecological corridors, regionally important corridors should have a minimum width of 300 m, which is intended to ensure that wild animals with local knowledge can make a seasonal change.
